Triangle - BR05 - Bookshelf Speakers

Overview

The Triangle Borea BR05 is a large-format 2-way bookshelf speaker and the newest model in the Borea range. It is built around a new 21 cm midwoofer with a 100% natural cellulose pulp cone, developed by Triangle for this model, paired with the 25 mm silk dome EFS tweeter used across the Borea range. Triangle recommends it for rooms of 15 to 45 m².

The BR05 is sold as a pair and comes in five finishes: Chestnut, Black Ash, Green, Light Oak and Frosted White. Each pairs a wood-toned cabinet with a solid-colour front baffle.

Two Ways to Set Up

• On the supplied base: the BR05 ships with a base that tilts the speaker 10° back towards the listening position, so it can sit directly on the floor.
• On the optional S03 stands: the Triangle S03 stand (sold separately) was designed for the BR05 and raises it to listening height while keeping the angled position. It comes in Black or White.

Design and Construction

• 21 cm midwoofer: a new driver with an untreated natural cellulose pulp cone. Triangle says much of its development focused on the midrange.
• EFS tweeter: a 25 mm silk dome with a phase plug (Efficient Flow System), the Borea range tweeter.
• Front-firing twin bass reflex ports: two ports spread the airflow from the large driver, and because they face forward the speaker can sit closer to a rear wall.
• DVAS (Driver Vibration Absorption System): a high-density EVA foam gasket links the back of the driver motor to an internal brace to absorb driver vibration.
• Braced MDF cabinet: high-density MDF panels up to 21 mm thick, with two extra internal braces in the upper and lower sections.
• Crossover: passive 2-way crossover with large-gauge air-core inductors, polyester film capacitors and cement resistors.
• Bi-wire and bi-amp ready: dual binding posts allow bi-wiring or separate amplification for the bass and treble.
• Magnetic grilles: removable.
