The KEF R8 Meta is a versatile Dolby Atmos-enabled speaker designed to add height, surround or rear effects to a premium home cinema system.

Place the R8 Meta on top of compatible speakers to direct sound towards the ceiling for Dolby Atmos playback, or use its integrated mounting system to install it on a wall as a surround or rear speaker. Its compact two-way design delivers precise effects without requiring custom in-ceiling installation.

Dolby Atmos Without Custom Installation

When positioned on top of front or rear speakers, the R8 Meta directs sound upwards so it reflects from the ceiling towards the listening area.

This creates the impression that effects are coming from overhead, adding height and dimension to Dolby Atmos film soundtracks, games and compatible streaming content.

Versatile Surround Speaker

The R8 Meta is not limited to up-firing Dolby Atmos applications. Its integrated mounting feature allows it to be installed on a wall and used as a conventional surround or rear speaker.

This flexibility makes it suitable for a wide range of room layouts and multichannel home theatre configurations.

12th Generation Uni-Q Driver Array

KEF’s 12th Generation Uni-Q® driver places the tweeter at the acoustic centre of the midrange and bass cone.

The array behaves more like a single point source, dispersing sound evenly and creating precise effects placement. This helps overhead and surround sounds integrate naturally with the rest of the system.

Metamaterial Absorption Technology

The R8 Meta incorporates KEF’s innovative Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT™) behind the tweeter.

Its maze-like internal structure is engineered to absorb 99% of the unwanted sound generated behind the driver. By reducing distortion and internal reflections, MAT helps deliver cleaner treble and more detailed cinematic effects.

Seamless R Series Integration

The R8 Meta shares its core acoustic technology with other KEF R Series speakers. This helps maintain consistent tonal character as sound moves around and above the listening area.

Pair it with R Series floorstanding, bookshelf and centre channel speakers to create a cohesive home cinema soundstage.

Two-Way Closed-Box Design

The R8 Meta uses a compact two-way closed-box enclosure. This controlled acoustic design supports accurate reproduction while making the speaker easier to position on another speaker or mount close to a wall.

Its angled cabinet directs sound appropriately when used as an upward-firing Dolby Atmos module.

Flexible Home Cinema Configurations

Use one pair of R8 Meta speakers to create a 5.1.2 Dolby Atmos system, or two pairs for a more expansive 5.1.4 configuration.

A compatible AV receiver or processor with Dolby Atmos decoding is required to power and configure the height channels.

Premium Cabinet Finishes

The R8 Meta is available in Black Gloss, White Gloss and Walnut, allowing it to complement matching KEF R Series speakers.

Colour-matched grilles provide driver protection while preserving the speaker’s understated appearance.
