In detail
About the Blade One Meta
Overview
Blade One Meta is a three-way floorstanding loudspeaker from KEF's Blade series, built around KEF's Single Apparent Source design. A bespoke 12th generation Uni-Q driver array with Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT) sits between four 225 mm (9 in.) force-cancelling bass drivers, arranged so that low, mid and high frequencies appear to radiate from one point.
KEF designs, engineers and hand-builds Blade at its UK home in Maidstone, Kent. The Blade series has two models, Blade One Meta and Blade Two Meta, which share the same technology and cabinet styling at different sizes.
Drivers and Technology
- Single Apparent Source layout: four bass drivers in symmetrically opposing pairs surround a two-way Uni-Q array whose midrange and tweeter share the same acoustic centre
- 12th generation Uni-Q driver array with a 25 mm aluminium dome tweeter and 125 mm aluminium cone midrange, plus KEF's tangerine waveguide
- Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT) behind the tweeter, which KEF states absorbs 99% of the unwanted sound from the rear of the tweeter
- Midrange motor with a copper ring in the motor gap to reduce inductance, and a flexible decoupling chassis that isolates the Uni-Q array from the cabinet
- Four 225 mm (9 in.) aluminium cone bass drivers mounted back to back to cancel kinetic forces, with each pair in its own chamber
- Two pairs of WBT connectors for single-wire, bi-wire or bi-amp connection
Cabinet and Finishes
- Cabinet moulded from an ultra-high density polyurethane composite, tapering from top to bottom and from front to rear
- Standard Finish: eight colour schemes made by pairing five cabinet finishes (three high-gloss, two matte satin) with six Uni-Q driver cone colours
- High-gloss options: Arctic White/Champagne, Racing Red/Grey, Piano Black/Copper and Piano Black/Grey
- Matte satin options: Frosted Blue/Blue, Frosted Blue/Bronze, Charcoal Grey/Red and Charcoal Grey/Bronze
- Custom Finish: made to order by KEF. You supply a Pantone colour of your choice for the speaker cabinet, which KEF matches and pairs with one of the six standard Uni-Q cone colours (copper, grey, bronze, blue, red or champagne)
In the Box
- Blade One Meta speakers (one pair, packed one speaker per carton)
- KEF care pack with cleaning cloth, connection and positioning accessories, and a product build certificate
- Spikes and locking nuts for each speaker
- Pucks to protect wooden floors
