The KEF R3 Meta is a premium three-way bookshelf speaker engineered to deliver exceptional clarity, precise imaging and powerful bass from a compact cabinet.

Drawing advanced acoustic technology from KEF’s flagship Reference Series, the R3 Meta uses the same driver configuration as the range-topping R11 Meta. Its combination of a 12th Generation Uni-Q® driver array, Metamaterial Absorption Technology and a dedicated 165mm bass driver delivers an immersive listening experience for music and home cinema.

True Three-Way Speaker Design

Unlike conventional two-way bookshelf speakers, the KEF R3 Meta uses dedicated drivers for high, midrange and low frequencies. This allows each driver to focus on a specific portion of the sound spectrum, improving separation, accuracy and dynamic performance.

Vocals sound natural and focused, instruments remain clearly defined, and complex recordings retain their detail even at higher listening levels.

12th Generation Uni-Q Driver Array

KEF’s 12th Generation Uni-Q® driver places the tweeter at the acoustic centre of the midrange cone. This arrangement allows the drivers to function more like a single point source, creating a wide and cohesive soundstage.

Sound is dispersed evenly throughout the room, expanding the listening sweet spot and delivering consistent clarity from more seating positions.

Metamaterial Absorption Technology

The R3 Meta incorporates KEF’s innovative Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT™) behind the tweeter.

Its complex internal structure is engineered to absorb 99% of the unwanted sound generated behind the driver. By reducing distortion and internal reflections, MAT helps the R3 Meta reproduce cleaner treble, finer detail and a more natural presentation.

Deep, Accurate Bass

A dedicated 165mm hybrid aluminium bass driver gives the R3 Meta impressive low-frequency authority. Its lightweight yet rigid construction helps the driver move with accuracy, while greater excursion supports deeper and more powerful bass.

The result is tight, controlled bass that adds weight and scale to music, films and television without overwhelming the finer details.

Engineered for Minimal Distortion

The R3 Meta cabinet and internal components are designed to reduce unwanted resonance and distortion. Flexible Decoupling Chassis technology helps isolate the drivers from cabinet vibrations, while carefully engineered surrounds allow more precise driver movement.

These refinements help maintain clarity during demanding passages and allow subtle details to remain audible across a wide volume range.

Precision Crossover Technology

The R3 Meta’s crossover network has been carefully engineered to integrate the bass driver and Uni-Q array seamlessly.

By directing each frequency to the appropriate driver, the crossover supports smooth transitions, accurate tonal balance and a unified soundstage.

Available finishes include Black Gloss, White Gloss, Walnut and Indigo Gloss Special Edition. Optional KEF S3 floor stands can position the speakers at the recommended listening height while providing a stable foundation.

Precision Microfibre Grilles

Each R3 Meta includes a specially designed microfibre grille featuring 1,801 precision-cut holes for every driver.

The grille provides protection while allowing the speaker to maintain its acoustic performance and clean appearance.
