Overview
The Q11 Meta is the largest floorstanding speaker in KEF's Q Series. It is a three-way bass reflex design with a 12th generation Uni-Q driver array with Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT) handling the midrange and treble, and three 165 mm (6.5 in.) hybrid aluminium bass drivers.
It can be used as a stereo pair or as the front left and right speakers in a Q Series home theatre system.
Drivers and Technology
- 12th generation Uni-Q driver array, with the tweeter at the centre of the midrange/bass cone so both radiate from the same point
- Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT): a maze-like absorber behind the tweeter that KEF states absorbs 99% of the unwanted sound from the rear of the dome
- Crossover developed by KEF from more than 1,000 on- and off-axis measurements per model in its anechoic chamber in Maidstone, UK
- Three-way design: the Uni-Q array covers mid and high frequencies while dedicated bass drivers handle the low end
- Hybrid bass drivers with a shallow concave aluminium skin over a paper cone
- Flared bass port modelled with computational fluid dynamics to reduce turbulence and port noise
- Shadow Flare surround around the Uni-Q driver to reduce cabinet edge diffraction
- Flexible Decoupling Chassis isolates the midrange motor from the Uni-Q chassis
