Powerful 8-Inch Bass for Outdoor Audio Systems
The KEF BL8b Outdoor Bollard Subwoofer brings powerful, controlled low-frequency performance to gardens, patios, pool areas and other open-air entertainment spaces.
Its 200mm long-throw bass driver and acoustically optimised enclosure deliver deep, articulate bass across expansive outdoor areas. A full 360-degree coverage pattern helps distribute low frequencies evenly, allowing the subwoofer to integrate naturally with KEF bollard speakers and landscape satellite speakers.
With an IPX5-rated weather-resistant enclosure, UV-resistant construction and flexible mounting options, the BL8b is engineered for permanent outdoor installation throughout the year.
200mm Long-Throw Bass Driver
The KEF BL8b features a 200mm or 8-inch long-throw low-frequency driver.
Its long-throw design allows the driver to move a greater volume of air, providing the controlled output needed to reproduce bass effectively in open environments. The result is full-bodied low-frequency performance without sacrificing clarity or definition.
The driver operates across a frequency range of 25Hz to 330Hz at −10dB, giving music and outdoor entertainment systems greater depth, weight and impact.
Deep, Articulate Bass Beyond the Listening Room
Outdoor areas lack the walls and boundaries that reinforce bass inside a conventional listening room. The BL8b compensates for this with its high-excursion driver and carefully tuned acoustic enclosure.

Because low frequencies are distributed in every direction, the BL8b can serve a broad outdoor area without needing to face a specific listening position. Its nominal coverage area of 120 square metres makes it suitable for patios, pool surrounds, landscaped gardens and other sizeable outdoor spaces.

With a rated maximum sound pressure level of 109dB, the BL8b can deliver substantial bass output for residential and selected commercial outdoor installations.
Its combination of output, low-frequency extension and wide coverage makes it suitable for supporting multiple outdoor speakers within a professionally designed audio system.
Designed for KEF Network DSP Amplifiers
The BL8b is designed for use with compatible KEF Network DSP Amplifiers.
KEF recommends 150 watts of amplifier power and a 170Hz low-pass filter. DSP-based amplification helps integrate the subwoofer with the accompanying outdoor speakers while providing the appropriate crossover, equalisation and system protection.
System configuration should be completed by an experienced installer to ensure correct performance and dependable operation.
IPX5-Rated Weather Resistance
The KEF BL8b is certified to IPX5, providing resistance against water jets from any direction.
Its rugged, weather-sealed enclosure helps protect the internal driver against rain, moisture and other conditions encountered during permanent outdoor use.
IPX5 does not mean the subwoofer is waterproof or suitable for immersion. It should be positioned where it cannot become submerged or remain in standing water.
UV-Resistant Outdoor Construction
The BL8b uses UV-resistant materials to help protect its exterior against prolonged sunlight exposure.
It is designed to operate across temperatures ranging from −25°C to +70°C, allowing it to accommodate demanding seasonal conditions.
KEF has also subjected the enclosure to more than 500 hours of salt-spray testing, supporting installation in coastal and salt-laden environments when the subwoofer is correctly installed and maintained.
Durable Aluminium Grille
A one-piece aluminium grille wraps around most of the upper enclosure.
This grille shields the driver from outdoor exposure while helping sound disperse evenly around the speaker. Its refined finish and minimalist form allow the BL8b to blend unobtrusively into contemporary gardens and architectural landscapes.
