Overview
The Yamaha WXA-70A is a compact streaming amplifier for a pair of passive speakers. It brings together Wi-Fi streaming, Bluetooth, TV sound over HDMI eARC and wired analogue, optical and USB sources, and it is a MusicCast device, so it can be controlled with the MusicCast Controller app and grouped with other MusicCast products around the home. Yamaha rates it at 55W + 55W into 8 ohms (20Hz to 20kHz, 0.06% THD, both channels driven).
Inside, Yamaha uses an ESS SABRE ES9039Q2M DAC with its DAC on Pure Ground circuit layout, and YPAO room calibration (including R.S.C. Reflected Sound Control) runs through the supplied microphone. The aluminium enclosure is 220mm wide, and for custom installations it offers Control4 compatibility, Web Setup, an IR input and a 12V trigger output.
Streaming and MusicCast
- Wi-Fi (IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax, 2.4GHz and 5GHz) and wired Ethernet

- Internet radio, podcasts and music server (PC/NAS) playback
- MusicCast multi-room audio, including MusicCast Link
- Bluetooth 5.3 with SBC and AAC
- Network and USB playback of FLAC, WAV and AIFF up to 384kHz, ALAC up to 96kHz and DSD up to 11.2MHz
Connectivity
- HDMI eARC/ARC for TV sound, with power and volume control from the TV remote (CEC)
- Optical digital input
