Design and Build: These speakers are discreetly designed for in-ceiling installation, providing a clean look with flush and bezel-less grilles that can be painted to match your ceiling perfectly. They come in two sizes: 6-inch and 8-inch, giving you the flexibility to choose based on your space and sound coverage needs.
Audio Performance: Both speaker sizes are passive, requiring an external amplifier, like the Sonos Amp, to power them. They are fine-tuned to deliver natural, room-filling sound:
- 6-inch model: Features a 6.5" polypropylene woofer and a 1" tweeter, with a frequency response of 36 Hz-20 kHz ±3 dB, and a maximum sound pressure level (SPL) of 110dB at 1 meter.
- 8-inch model: Comes with an 8" polypropylene woofer and a 1.2" tweeter. It offers a lower frequency response starting at 29 Hz up to 20 kHz ±3 dB, with a higher maximum SPL of 113dB at 1 meter.
Optimization and Control: When paired with the Sonos Amp, these speakers can utilize Sonos' proprietary technologies like Trueplay and Speaker Detection. Trueplay tunes the speakers based on the room's acoustics using measurements of how sound reflects off surfaces, optimizing for the best listening experience. Speaker Detection allows the Amp to recognize the connected Sonos Architectural speakers and apply custom DSP (Digital Signal Processing) for enhanced sound quality.
