About the AT-LP5X

Overview

The Audio-Technica AT-LP5X is a fully manual direct-drive turntable that plays 33⅓, 45 and 78 RPM records. It has a built-in switchable phono preamp with MM and MC gain settings, a USB output for recording vinyl to a computer, and a J-shaped tonearm modelled on Audio-Technica designs from the 1960s and ’70s. It comes fitted with an AT-VM95E dual moving magnet cartridge on an AT-HS6 headshell, ready to play.

The AT-LP5X is the latest version of the AT-LP5. Audio-Technica has added the AT-VM95E cartridge and a preamp gain switch so the turntable can be used with moving magnet or moving coil cartridges.

Features

Direct drive, three speeds: a DC motor drives a die-cast aluminium platter at 33⅓, 45 or 78 RPM, with an electronic brake.
Fully manual operation: you place and lift the tonearm yourself.
J-shaped tonearm: based on classic Audio-Technica designs, fitted with an AT-HS6 headshell.
AT-VM95E cartridge: a dual moving magnet stereo cartridge with a replaceable stylus, fitted to the AT-HS6 headshell.
Switchable MM/MC phono preamp: use the PHONO output with an amplifier that has a phono input, or the LINE output with powered speakers or an amplifier without one. A gain switch sets the preamp for moving magnet or moving coil cartridges.
USB output: converts the analogue signal to 16-bit digital at 44.1 kHz or 48 kHz for recording to a Windows or Mac computer.
Cabinet: mass damped, high-density polymer.
Dust cover: included, with hinges.
