The Vertere SOLO Mono MC Cartridge is a purpose-built moving coil cartridge engineered specifically for the accurate reproduction of mono vinyl records.

Rather than adapting a conventional stereo cartridge for mono playback, Vertere has developed the SOLO around a dedicated mono moving coil generator designed to retrieve the lateral information cut into a mono record groove while minimising unwanted vertical signal components.

A precision-machined aluminium alloy body, telescopic aluminium cantilever and nude Shibata III diamond stylus work together to provide accurate groove tracking, low noise and detailed analogue reproduction.

Designed Specifically for Mono Vinyl

Mono records store their musical information primarily through lateral groove modulation.

The SOLO uses a dedicated mono coil generator engineered to respond to this lateral information without introducing a vertical signal component into the mono output.

This specialised approach helps minimise unwanted noise and distortion while allowing the musical information contained in mono pressings to be reproduced with greater clarity and focus.

Nude Shibata III Diamond Stylus

The Vertere SOLO uses a nude Shibata III diamond stylus with a specified profile of 7 × 40μm.

The Shibata profile provides an extended contact area with the groove walls, helping the cartridge accurately trace fine groove modulations while retrieving subtle musical information.

Its nude diamond construction also helps minimise moving mass at the stylus tip, contributing to the cartridge's responsive tracking performance.

Telescopic Aluminium Cantilever

The stylus is mounted to a telescopic aluminium alloy cantilever designed to provide the combination of strength, low mass and mechanical control required by the SOLO's moving coil generator.

The cantilever, stylus, suspension and generator have been engineered as an integrated mechanical system to accurately transfer movement from the groove to the cartridge generator.

Precision Aluminium Alloy Body

The SOLO features a precision-engineered aluminium alloy cartridge body.

Its rigid construction provides a mechanically stable platform for the generator while helping manage unwanted vibration and resonance.

Cartridge mass and structural balance have also been matched to the cantilever, coil and suspension system to optimise tracking behaviour and mechanical integrity.

Vertere Tri-Point Mounting

The cartridge incorporates Vertere's Tri-Point headshell mounting system using threaded M2.5 fixing holes.

The three-point contact arrangement is designed to provide accurate alignment and a secure mechanical connection between the cartridge and tonearm headshell.

A stable cartridge mounting interface helps ensure energy generated at the stylus is controlled rather than lost through unwanted movement between the cartridge and headshell.

Quad-Point Generator Support

Internally, the SOLO employs Vertere's Quad-Point Contact generator fixing system.

Four stainless-steel spike screws support the generator assembly, providing a mechanically stable interface within the cartridge body.

Together with the rigid aluminium chassis and Tri-Point headshell connection, this architecture is designed to improve generator stability and vibration control.

Optimised for High-Performance MC Phono Stages

The SOLO produces an output of 0.4mV at 1kHz and 5cm/sec and has a specified coil resistance of 24Ω.

Vertere recommends an input load between 850Ω and 1kΩ, with capacitance between 0pF and a maximum of 470pF.

This makes careful phono-stage matching important for achieving the cartridge's intended performance. A phono preamplifier with adjustable MC loading and gain provides the greatest flexibility when integrating the SOLO into a premium vinyl system.
