The Vertere PHONO-1 LX Phono Preamplifier is a high-performance phono stage designed to extract greater detail, dynamics and musical expression from vinyl playback.

Power supply quality is critical in a phono preamplifier, where the extremely low-level signal produced by a cartridge requires substantial amplification.

The PHONO-1 LX features an upgraded internal DC power supply using improved components to provide cleaner and more stable power throughout the circuit.

Vertere has also redesigned the AC input stage with specialised inductors that help prevent high-frequency interference from reaching sensitive audio circuitry. Additional filtering after the transformer further reduces unwanted RF interference before power reaches the DC supply.

Precision MM & MC Cartridge Matching

Different cartridges require different levels of gain, resistance and capacitance to perform at their best.

The Vertere PHONO-1 LX provides extensive adjustment, with 10 gain settings, 15 resistance values and 9 capacitance options, allowing the phono stage to be configured for a broad range of MM and MC cartridges.

Resistance loading includes 47kΩ for MM cartridges and a wide selection of settings from 78Ω to 47kΩ for MC cartridges.

Capacitance options include 100pF and 430pF for MM, with MC capacitance adjustable from 100pF to 1.02µF.

This flexibility allows the PHONO-1 LX to be matched closely to the electrical requirements of the cartridge and the wider vinyl playback system.

Adjustable Gain

The PHONO-1 LX offers a gain range from 40dB to 63dB, providing the flexibility needed to accommodate cartridges with different output levels.

A high-gain version is also specified by Vertere, adding 6.4dB to the available gain settings.

This extensive adjustment makes the PHONO-1 LX suitable for both higher-output MM cartridges and lower-output MC designs.

Two-Way Earthing Control
