About the KA-RC-1
Overview
The Kirmuss Audio KA-RC-1 is an ultrasonic record cleaning machine. A motorised record washer assembly sits over a stainless steel tank and turns the records through a bath of distilled water with a small amount of 70% isopropyl alcohol, while the tank runs at an ultrasonic frequency of 35 kHz. The washer assembly holds several records at once.
Kirmuss designed the KA-RC-1 around a manual process. Between cleaning cycles each record comes out of the machine, is sprayed with the supplied KA-AS-1 ionizing surfactant and brushed with the supplied goat hair brush, then goes back in. The record is then dried with the supplied cloths and finished with the felt and carbon fibre brush. There is no vacuum or fan drying. The full method is set out in the Kirmuss user manual.
