The DELA D100 Optical Disc Drive is a premium external disc drive engineered for high-quality CD importing and accurate digital data transfer.

Drawing on DELA’s experience in purpose-built music libraries, the D100 applies audio-focused mechanical, electrical and clocking technology to the process of reading optical discs. It allows CDs to be imported into a compatible DELA music library, third-party music server or computer without relying on a conventional lightweight IT drive.

A rigid metal chassis, highly stable drive-mounting system, dedicated power-supply circuitry and precision NDK clock make the D100 an ideal companion for listeners building a carefully curated digital music collection. 

Purpose-Built for Accurate CD Importing

The D100 is designed to provide a stable, dependable connection between an optical disc and a digital music library.

It reads standard CD-DA audio discs, allowing compatible music servers and computers to import the music into their internal storage. It can also read compatible DVD and Blu-ray data discs, providing greater flexibility when transferring previously archived music files.

The D100 is a read-only optical drive and does not write or burn discs.

Highly Stable Drive Mechanism

DELA’s Highly Stable Storage System securely supports the optical drive mechanism inside the chassis.

By improving the physical stability of the drive, the design helps reduce unwanted vibration while a disc is spinning and data is being read. This audio-focused construction distinguishes the D100 from ordinary external computer drives.

Rigid, Vibration-Resistant Chassis

The D100 incorporates a 2mm-thick under-chassis designed to increase rigidity and support the internal drive mechanism.

At approximately 3.5kg, it is considerably heavier than a typical external optical drive. This substantial construction helps provide a stable operating platform while matching the quality and appearance of a premium Hi-Fi system.

Precision NDK Clock

A high-grade clock manufactured by NDK provides accurate timing within the D100’s digital architecture.

DELA selected a higher-grade NDK clock than that used in previous versions, supporting the D100’s focus on dependable, high-quality disc-data transfer.

Dedicated Power-Supply Circuitry

The D100 uses an upgraded dedicated printed circuit board fitted with carefully selected power-supply capacitors.

This specialised circuit design provides stable power to the drive mechanism and internal electronics, avoiding the general-purpose architecture commonly found in standard computer peripherals.

Dual USB Connectivity

Separate USB connections provide flexibility for different digital audio configurations.

USB To Host

The rear USB 3.0 Type-B To Host connection links the D100 to a compatible:

• DELA music library
• Third-party music server
• Windows or Mac computer

This connection allows the connected host device to read and import data from the inserted disc.

USB To Device

The USB 3.0 Type-A To Device port supports connection to a compatible USB DAC within an appropriate DELA music-library system.

This additional port helps preserve USB connectivity when the D100 is incorporated into a digital audio setup.

Compact Half-Width Design

Measuring just 215mm wide, the D100 uses a convenient half-width chassis that is easy to position within a Hi-Fi system.

Its compact form makes it particularly well suited to DELA’s half-width music libraries while remaining compatible with other supported music servers and computers.
