Overview
The Yamaha NS-BP401 is a 2-way bass reflex bookshelf speaker in a piano black finish, applied with the same coating process Yamaha uses on its grand pianos. Each speaker pairs a 13 cm aluminium cone woofer with a 3 cm soft dome tweeter.
It is a passive speaker for use with a stereo amplifier or receiver, rated by Yamaha at 60 W nominal and 120 W maximum input power with a 6 ohm impedance.
Drivers
- 13 cm (5-1/4") woofer with a diaphragm of aluminium that Yamaha specifies as over 99% pure
- 3 cm (1-1/4") soft dome tweeter with a coated diaphragm made using Yamaha's own moulding technology
- Crossover at 3 kHz, with network parts and internal wiring selected by Yamaha through listening tests
Cabinet and Finish
- Cabinet built with three-way mitred joints at the corners, a technique drawn from Yamaha's instrument making
- Piano black finish built up over 14 coats, with more than half of the process done by hand (per Yamaha)
- Gold-plated speaker terminals that accept banana plugs
