The Vertere Ruby One MC is a flagship moving coil phono cartridge engineered for exceptional groove tracking, resolution and musical transparency.

Developed over more than five years, the Ruby One combines a bespoke low-mass moving coil generator with a telescopic ruby and aluminium cantilever, nude Micro Ridge diamond stylus, precision-machined aluminium alloy body and Vertere’s specialised cartridge mounting architecture.

Every part of the Ruby One has been developed to control unwanted vibration while transferring the delicate mechanical information contained in a record groove as accurately as possible. The result is a reference-level cartridge designed for premium turntables, tonearms and analogue playback systems.

Developed Over Five Years

The Ruby One is the result of an extensive development programme in which Vertere evaluated different stylus profiles, cantilever materials, generator configurations and body structures.

Rather than designing individual components in isolation, Vertere developed the cartridge as a complete mechanical system, carefully balancing the generator, suspension, cantilever, stylus and cartridge body.

The finished Ruby One is designed to minimise coloration while maintaining speed, resolution and accurate tracking across complex musical passages.

Telescopic Ruby & Aluminium Cantilever

A defining feature of the Ruby One is its telescopic hybrid cantilever.

The design combines ruby with aluminium alloy, taking advantage of ruby’s high rigidity while using the aluminium section to help manage mechanical resonance and optimise the behaviour of the complete cantilever assembly.

This lightweight, rigid structure helps transfer stylus movement to the generator with minimal unwanted flexing, allowing fine musical information to be preserved.

Nude Micro Ridge Diamond Stylus

At the groove interface, the Ruby One uses a nude Micro Ridge diamond stylus measuring 2.4 × 73μm.

The fine stylus profile is designed to maintain accurate groove contact and retrieve low-level information while tracking demanding record passages with precision.

The stylus is directly integrated with the Ruby One’s cantilever assembly to create a highly responsive mechanical connection between the record groove and moving coil generator.

Precision-Machined Aluminium Body

The Ruby One cartridge body is precision-machined from a rigid aluminium alloy.

This solid construction helps minimise unwanted body resonance while providing a mechanically stable platform for the generator and cantilever assembly.

The body also incorporates Vertere’s specialised mounting system to create a firm mechanical interface between the cartridge and tonearm headshell.

Tri-Point Cartridge Mounting

The Ruby One uses special Vertere Tri-Point M2.5 threaded mounting holes, designed to provide secure cartridge positioning and a stable mechanical connection to the headshell.

Precise cartridge mounting is particularly important at this performance level because unwanted movement between the cartridge and tonearm can reduce tracking accuracy and blur low-level musical information.

Quad-Point Generator Support

Inside the cartridge, Vertere uses a Quad-Point Contact generator fixing system.

Four stainless-steel spike screws support and position the generator assembly, allowing its mechanical alignment and relationship with the cartridge body to be carefully controlled.

This architecture is designed to increase mechanical stability while reducing the transmission of unwanted vibration to the generator.

Dual-Layer Suspension

The Ruby One incorporates a specially developed dual-layer suspension system.

Carefully selected materials provide the required combination of compliance and damping, helping the stylus maintain accurate contact with the record groove while controlling unwanted mechanical movement.

The suspension works together with the cartridge body, cantilever and generator to maintain stable tracking across different musical dynamics and groove modulations.

Designed for Reference Vinyl Systems

With its 0.45mV output, 40Ω coil resistance and recommended loading range, the Ruby One is intended to be partnered with a high-quality moving coil phono preamplifier that provides appropriate gain and loading adjustment.

Correct cartridge alignment, tracking force, tonearm matching and phono-stage setup are important for achieving the performance available from the Ruby One.
