Overview
The Q1 Meta is the smallest passive bookshelf speaker in KEF's Q Series. It is a two-way bass reflex design built around a 130 mm (5.25 in.) 12th generation Uni-Q driver array with Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT), and can be placed on a shelf, cabinet or stand, or wall mounted.
It can be used as a stereo pair for music or combined with other Q Series models and KEF subwoofers in a home theatre system.
Drivers and Technology
- 12th generation Uni-Q driver array, with the tweeter at the centre of the midrange/bass cone so both radiate from the same point
- Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT): a maze-like absorber behind the tweeter that KEF states absorbs 99% of the unwanted sound from the rear of the dome
- Crossover developed by KEF from more than 1,000 on- and off-axis measurements per model in its anechoic chamber in Maidstone, UK
- Tweeter rear chamber vent enlarged by 250% (per KEF) so more of the rear sound reaches the MAT absorber
- 25 mm (1 in.) vented aluminium dome tweeter with MAT and 130 mm (5.25 in.) aluminium cone
