The Iconic Planar 3

Rega has always been a pioneer in the use of lightweight rigid plinths, utilizing a lightweight particulate core with a highly rigid phenolic resin skin. This innovative approach laid the foundation for the high performance of the original Planar range. The new Planar 3 takes this design philosophy even further.

Advanced Plinth Design

The Planar 3 features a lightweight acrylic laminated plinth, strengthened with an improved double brace system. This system is mounted where increased rigidity is required—between the tonearm mounting and the main hub bearing—forming a structurally sound "stressed beam" assembly. This design prevents energy absorption and unwanted resonance, which can distort the music. The use of braces instead of a complete skin allows for double thickness phenolic resin in key areas, while reducing overall weight and addressing issues of mass absorption and unwanted energy transmission.

RB330 Tonearm

Designed using the latest 3D CAD & CAM technology, the RB330 tonearm represents over 35 years of tonearm design expertise. It features a new bearing housing and a redesigned tonearm tube with intelligent mass redistribution, resulting in fewer resonance points. The high-precision bearing assemblies ensure extreme stability and almost friction-free movement, capturing more information from your vinyl than ever before.

Plinth and Double Brace Technology

The high gloss acrylic laminated plinth offers improved stiffness and aesthetics, with an ergonomically positioned power switch. Available in three stunning high gloss finishes—black, white, and red—and the new light oak effect for 2024. The improved 3mm phenolic bottom brace and new metallized skin phenolic top brace enhance rigidity and performance.

Bearing Housing and Isolation

The redesigned brass main hub central bearing reduces stress and improves fit and construction. The new improved foot increases stability and reduces vibration transfer, enhancing overall sound quality.

24V Motor and Dust Cover

The improved motor control PCB integrates with the Neo PSU for electronic speed change and features an advanced anti-vibration circuit. The new motor cover tray includes integrated cooling. The turntable comes with a standard dust cover, and optional lid plinth protectors keep the plinth looking its best.
